About the Blog
Social inequality is a haunting issue in the United States and across the world, from policies to the attitudes of individuals. A big misconception is that these social issues are "getting better", but, they are deep rooted issues that seem to just be covered up by a band-aid and not fully addressed. Social inequality affects social mobility, access to health care, housing, education, and much more. This blog aims to address the social inequalities and discriminations of poverty, gender, race and ethnicity, and mental health in hopes to demystify and bring awareness to these issues. Throughout the semester, multiple blog entries will dive into these topics and how social inequality plays a part of our everyday lives. This blog will also touch on how the personal is always political and the political is always personal. |
About the Author
My name is Megan Carter. My goal is to change the world and I strive to impact lives on a daily basis. I am currently a Sociology major at CSUF and plan to further my education in Occupational Therapy at USC. After I graduate with my Doctorate of Occupational Therapy, the first thing I would like to do is help young adults in drug rehabilitation. In my heart, these people have so much to live for and are often times lost in the struggles of addiction. I hope to bring love and support into my career to show these people that the world can be such a better place. I would also consider myself an activist for social justice. There are a lot of deep rooted issues in this world that have not been resolved and my goal is to educate myself, by reading and organizing, to help bring a lasting change to this world. |
